ANZAC DAY PARADE
|
Dear friends, As the American Consul General here in Western Australia, one of the most moving experiences I have had is participating in the ANZAC Day ceremonies. I have the good fortune to represent all Americans at the dawn wreath-laying service in King’s Park, and to view the stirring ANZAC Day parade from the viewing stand with the Governor. The RSL has invited all current and former members (men and women!) of the U.S. military to represent our country in the ANZAC Day Parade on April 25. You don’t need to fit into that uniform you might not have worn for a few years, you don’t need to be able to run the marathon -- the only thing you need is the desire to be part of a meaningful event. I look forward to standing with Governor Michael and saluting as many of you as possible as you proudly walk down St. Georges Terrace, representing our country in the largest ANZAC Day Parade in Australia – one of the United States’ most important allies. I urge any service members, whether you served one week or an entire career in the defense of our country, to join with the members of the North American Veterans’ Unit on this important occasion. If you know other Americans who have served our country in this way, please help me by making sure they know about this request and opportunity. Capt. (ret.) Mike Donnelly’s message provides more details (click here to read it). For more information please call Joan Gravelle on 0421 420 498, Mike Donnelly on 9300 5430 or 0432 802 296, or Michael Munjak on 9322 7818 or 0405 236 266. I look forward to waving at you with pride on April 25!
Warm regards,

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
|
This Friday is St. Patrick's Day. Saint Patrick is believed to have been born in the late fourth century, and is often confused with Palladius, a bishop who was sent by Pope Celestine in 431 to be the first bishop to the Irish believers in Christ. Click HERE to read more.
