Satillite Pictures of the Hurricane Region

Hi People,

This website contains several detailed satillite photos covering the entire Hurricane Katrina region, from Louisiana to Alabama. We found my Moms house and luckily it is still intact. Unfortunately the house next door appears to have a large tree on top of it. I hope you can use this to find your own places.

Regards,
Paul

PS,
Uncle Charles has contacted someone via HAM radio who forwarded a message to my Uncle Rusty, to say they are all ok. I think that accounts for everyone.

Blog from a guy still in New Orleans

Hi People,

My mate Graham just sent me this live log from a guy in New Orleans. Have a read of it to get 'real' up to date information.

On a personal note, having been raised in Gulfport and lived in New Orleans for a few years, this situation is astonishing. I actually lived across the street from the 'levee' in New Orleans East.

I've been watching FOX NEWS (Foxtel channel 35) for the last few days and the coverage has been on 24/7 and excellent. I can't believe all the crime thats going on. At least at this stage the emergency services are beginning to assemble and take control.

Most of my family have gotten out. Some are in Arkansas, some in Florida and others in Texas. Thank God for that. Still waiting to hear from Uncle Charles, Aunt Alice and Cousin Keith. I hope they're ok.

Regards,
Paul

LOVE THIS COMEBACK

I received this little anecdote in my email the other day, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

My son serves in the military. He is still stateside right now. He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him and his troops, everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands and thank them for being willing to serve, and fight, for not only our own freedoms but so that others may have them also.

But he also told me about an incident in the grocery store he stopped at yesterday, on his way home from the base. He said that ahead of several people in front of him stood a woman dressed in a burkha. He said when she got to the cashier she loudly remarked about the U.S. flag lapel pin the cashier wore on her smock. The cashier reached up and touched the pin, and said proudly, "Yes, I always wear it and I probably always will."

The woman in the burkha then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.

A gentleman standing behind my son stepped forward, putting his arm around my son's shoulders, and nodding towards my son, said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman:

"Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today.

But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid."

Everyone within hearing distance cheered!

PERTH PERSPECTIVES NEWSLETTER

Here is our most recent consulate general newsletter. Feel free to pass it on to your members and others who would enjoy reading it. We have changed the format to try to reduce the size of the document, so I hope this edition will be easier to open. My apologies for the delay in getting the newsletter out to you - my IT skills are better than they were when I said I would take care of sending this, but certainly still leave a lot to be desired!
